Yes it is, although some people love it or hate it. You can quite easily have just fish & chips without any side.

^I love it!!! Especially with loads of vinegar! It's great with mint sauce too!

There are lots of places that sell fish and chips around were I live, although most of them sell other fried seafood too such as scallops, shrimp and clams (fried clams are the best). Fish and chips here is usually served with tarter sauce, but you can get vinegar too. As a side dish you always get coleslaw, there is almost never any other choice.

Can't beat a good ol' battered sausage every once in a while too!

Agreed, but with curry sauce smeared all over the whole thing, mmmm.

Also the kebab meat and chips is hard to beat in my eyes, especially with hot chilli sauce.
