Well I'm off to see Red Cliff(Chinese Epic Battle Movie) tomorrow at the Cinema, hope it will be good. The reviewers seem to like it. It should look great on the big screen with Epic battles like Lord of the Rings. Fingers crossed Smile It is a three hour film with english subtitles, so I hope I can go the distance; I may have a headache at the end Smile I do prefer an authentic feel to a movie though, I really don't like dubbing unless it is absolutely necessary.

Well I saw it. A good film, and interesting too. It was about the Chinese Civil War in 208AD. Beautiful scenery. I think the hardest part was remembering all the leaders names like, Cao Cao, Liu Biel, Woo Woo and Xiaq Xiao etc.. Then also remembering who belonged to the Northern and Southern lands, as the film focused on an Emperor, Cao Cao; and his domination of the Southern Lands. The interesting part was some of the tactics used, like Wedge, tortoise formation - The Art of War(SunTzu), the idea of map making, and how a Strategist could theoretically get 100,000 arrows from his enemy...but in the end it was all about a cup of tea, the winds of change and the desire of a beautiful woman. Quite fascinating it was, I think there is a second part, or part 2.. Hmm.. maybe I'll do a search later.

Recommended film if you get the chance to see it. There wasn't so many subtitles as the action dispersed this and some of the films story was spoken in english(which was well done).

I saw Gran Torino, an excellent film, but you have to watch it to the end with an open mind. I suppose it is more of a character role, a mature film with adult content; but it is well portrayed/acted by Clint Eastwood, who just seems to keep on making successful film one after the other. If you are easily offended then don't go and see it, but if you don't; you will probably miss out on one of the best films of the year(2009). Recommended film.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen

Fairly long, Too many penis jokes, and most Decepticons do not get enough screen time. But.................................

AWESOME MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! Better than the first one. Wonderful CGI and a lot of funny jokes mixed in withe the great action. I grew up with Transformers, so this is a no brainer fro me. Gonna go see it for the 3rd time tomorrow.

Just watched the first live action Death Note movie. Ken'ichi Matsuyama as L is amazing. His mannerisms and such are dead on. Tomorrow I'm gonna watch the sequel.

I saw the Virgin Suicides last night...it was really great!!! I love Sofia Coppola.

It was really cool because it was so...disturbing, but sweet, and melancholy all at the same time...

I was impressed with the first and second film.

Its' funny, I have all three on DVD with...wait for it...the Death Note booklet for each one haha. I said to my brother(I was joking), shall we test out if it is true. He said 'ok', Ok, I shall write your name on the page. He answered... 'No, no, don't do that.' Smile I haven't written anything on them in case something did happen. Then again, I have never said 'Candyman' in front of the mirror five times, and then switch off the bathroom light. Smile Funny how we don't do things...superstition Smile Then again, I think the worse time was when I saw 'The Ring'(Japanese Version) with my brother, I swear the TV flickered after I switched the TV off and unplugged it. We looked at each other, and I said; Let's get 'outta here!!' haha Smile

I went with my family to see the new Harry Potter movie today. It was OK, but I enjoyed the earlier movies better. The wife and I just don't see what Harry sees in Ginny, because she is plain looking and kind of boring. You think that a wizard celebrity like Harry Potter would go for a much more interesting girl.

We are off to see it later today. About Ginny, actually I think she is pretty good looking, although, when they cast her in the first movie did they know she would eventually be Harry's girlfriend and even wife? Remember, it's been the same girl for all the movies, and it would have been pretty damn harsh to cast another girl in the part for this movie just because the original actress hadn't grown up to be as pretty as they had hoped. That would have been soud destroying for the original actress...

She's not bad looking, but we thought in the move she comes across as what we American have as a stereotype of the 'proper English woman.' That is soft spoken, attentive, tight upper lip but not glamorous or unusual in anyway. I have only read the first three books and, so I don't know how she comes across in print. Here is Harry, who now knows he is the most important wizard in their world. Girls are flinging themselves at him, and you think maybe he would choose someone a little more interesting.

One more thing while Emma Watson has grown up to be quite an attractive woman, the years have not been kind to the actor that plays Ron, Rupert Grint.

Harsh, very harsh indeed. Poor Rupert, I don't think he's a bad looking chap, but in the books Ron, Hermione and indeed Harry are not meant to be good looking at all really anyway. Hermione is supposed to have big goofy teeth, I guess they decided to ignore that for the films.

Anyway I think it's a breath of fresh air to have not so stunningly good looking actors in big movie parts. I get kinda sick of the pretty girls and boys who get big movie parts that cannot act for toffee.

Dude! I think Ron is hot! He got way hotter this movie! A lot of my friends agree too. Razz

But I really liked the newest movie...the only one that really had me intensely into it the entire time.

And Unless Rowling told the directors that plan was Ginny to marry Harry I don't see how they could...I also think Ginny is really pretty and sweet Smile

My thoughts on good or not good looking actors or actresses...I say make 'um all gorgeous. I live with average people, why do I wanna go watch t.v./movies to watch more average people?

I agree with Sneakglove on this. One good thing about Steven Spielberg was he 'use' to have your everyday average person in a movie. Meaning, it was somebody most people could relate to. The thing these days, movies want a certain look, with a certain body, talking in a certain style. Much in the same way magazines are publicised and fabricated with the truth. It teaches/sends people the wrong message. I'm not saying it is not nice to see a beautiful woman or handsome man on screen, its' just...well as Sneakglove says really, most of them can't act to save there lives.

Thank goodness that 'Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder', as otherwise this world would be more thickle than it already is. Everyone is different, and I'm sure Ron, Rupert Grint will appeal and be dreamt about by some people.

A close friend said to me once 'There is somebody at night in tears because, they haven't met a person like you.'

And you know, I believe that is true for everyone.

I think it really depends on the move. For example, in deep movies like Spielberg's Schindler's List you really don't care if the actors are good looking or not. However for movies that are total escapism like Harry Potter or Transformers, I'm with BMF on this one. Make them hot.

Your choice I suppose. I go more for the movie, to be entertained; rather than deciding if some woman is hot or not. If the woman is 'hot' as you say, then it is a bonus.

Everybody has there reasons for going to see a movie. Ghitgo went to see the Transformers because it reminded him of his childhood, much in the same way why I saw Star Wars all those years ago (more 4,5,6 than 1,2,3 - I use to have the Star Wars figures back in the day).

As for Harry Potter and Transformers, well yes they are both escapism films, but... I would not class Harry Potter alongside Transformers. Harry Potter actually had an interestingly woven story whilst Transformers had well...the opposite.

If you want to see 'hot' girls/women, I think there is a place where you can get that called the 'top shelf'.

Lets take a another Spielberg movie. Would Raiders of the Lost Ark work if Indiana Jones was played by just an average looking man instead of Harrison Ford, or the girl (I forget her name) who he was constantly saving not good looking? I don't think so. How about James Bond? Do these movies work without a Bond girl? By hot, I didn't necessary mean pornographic. I was just agreeing with BMF, that it helps if the actors and actresses on the screen of these type of movies are good looking. Once again there are always exceptions. Napoleon Dynamite was a thoroughly enjoyable move, where all of the main characters could have been members of my family. Very Happy

Hmmm...fair enough. It just felt you thought more about a woman being 'hot' than you did the movie itself. Well, I stand corrected. I'm not going to argue with you as I was abit harsh now that I look back at the message, so I apologise.

For reference,

Karen Allen - Marion(from Raiders) who I thought played her part very well in the movie.

I'm watching Dragon- Dragonball.. Dragonball Zeeeeeeee. Dragon- Dragonball.. Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeee [guitar].

Ha ha. Yeah, Dragonball Z if you didn't quite get that. Or Dragonball Zed rather.

It's really good, I'm enjoying it. I've never really watched it before, as it wasn't on any channel I had as a kid. I used to watch it at my grandmother's though, when I got the chance! Kami, Piccolo & Mr. Popo are my favourites from when I was younger, but I can't remember why.

Piccolo is my favourite currently, I hope to see more of Kami and Popo soon! We're on the first few episodes. What's with the American cutting of the show though? This one scene had VERY OBVIOUSLY been cut, ha ha. It was stupid. Is it to make it more child-friendly? I imagine it's to cut the violence, you see. Hm. Well, I'd like to see the original sometime with subtitles. It'd help me with my studies anyways.

Also some French films soon, Fantastic Planet one of them is called. Here's a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgCxCZNkQ9E
OH AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... NEW PENN & TELLER BULL****!! I AM SO HAPPY. < I hope saying the title is okay! Starred it out for ya, xx.

"Many episodes aim to debunk what the hosts see as pseudoscientific ideas, supernatural beliefs, popular fads and misconceptions, and often from a libertarian point of view, the political philosophy espoused by both Penn and Teller. The show criticizes proponents of what they perceive as nonsense and dishonesty—bull****—often citing ulterior political or financial motives. The stated aim of the show is to apply critical thinking to misconceptions, and as is indicated by the show's title, the program adheres to Penn & Teller's characteristically blunt, aggressive presentation."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/index.html?curid=583311

I love this show, I think it's awesome, insightful and amusing. [Hugs it].
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS2HeQYOQsw - just watched this episode, which I found on YouTube too!
In this one, they are talking about video games, arguing that they do not lead to violence in youths. Warning: Strong language.

I just watched the trailer for the new Alice in Wonderland movie directed by the great Tim Burton. I am not a great fan of this story, but the movie looks great.

I bet Tommy's excited about this, being a fan of Alice and Tim Burton already. This seems a perfect film for her.
