Personally after a slow start, and some dodgy sampling, I think it's GREAT! The chorus is amazing, she has done such a great job with the song, and made it sound very different from the original version, which is always good with a cover. You don't want it to sound exactly like the original song.

It's great, and it's nice to hear Tommy sing something new. And Malibu Convertible have made it true to the Tommy sound, if I can call it that.

However and after 2 listenings, my opinion is:
Tommy sings well without a doubt but the arrangements are so special and give to this cover a very different feeling than the original ... something very different comparing to their old covers "SINCE YESTERDAY", "Can't take my eyes off of you", "I'm in the mood for dancing" or "I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU" !

The rythm is also a lot faster and make the song sounds more lihe hip-hop or music for break dance, I really wonder if Malibu Convertible is behind this ?

Anyway I am giving for the moment a few more extra tries !

Yes, thanks Level masteR, I suspected this also.

I think it has a very Eurobeat feel about it aswell as a hint of hip hop as Kilix mentions. The beat is very prominent and it is packed with instruments and samples, and there also seems to be an element of comedy involdved also (I am sure I heard a duck quack near the end, lol.)

It seems that Tommy and Shunsaku had a lot of fun making this song come to life.

loooool that's exactly THE sound which annoyes me ! Without that I think the song it's pretty good !

For example I like these sound effects which reminds me the Megadrive sounds, we can hear it since 0:20 to 0:30 ... how do we call this kind of effect ?

Kilix, those sounds are just like synth sounds, probably created on a computer. All that would be involved in making this song is Tommy, a microphone and a PC with a music making program I would guess.

The comedy element reminds me of the song 'Tommy feburette, macaron' with all the funny sound effects and male voices.

yes I know I know !
I was only asking if it has a special name for these so particular chip sounds !

Finally the song is ace but definitely the "quack quack quack" for the 1st third of the song and the guy saying "loud" in the last 30 seconds ... are just killing me and maybe kill this cover too !

The quacks I was talking about come right near the end, almost at the fade out, and are actually real duck noises not a man saying quack. But... now that you come to mention it it does sound like the sample at the start is a man saying 'quack'.

To me Tommy has always included comedy in some of the songs of her february character, so this is only to be expected for me, and it doesn't ruin the whole song, in fact I think it makes it more february-ish and not just Tommy singing a Cyndi Lauper song, but I can certainly see how it would annoy some people.

I love it! not as good as the original Lauper, but it's very nice. anyone know where to download the album? I'm dyeing to get it~!

edit: after hearing all the songs I have 2 favs (tracks 8+3 directly to my mp3 player) a "could be a little better but sounds so good anyway" (track 1) and a least fav.. sorry but track 10 was so boring for me >o< I like Anna's much more

well... I think you said all I wanted to say XDDD

At first when I listened the song was like "WTF..??!?" (where you listened some ducks, I listened FROGS XDDD), but then when the chorus started was like "hmm.. is not that bad" and well, after listening more and more, I can truly say is a great cover ^^

But I think too that we can really see that this is not a completely february song >.< It's like they tried to adapt Tommy style to cyndi's one (because of cyndi's fans approval I suppose), but it's kinda different from the original one and I love it ^^

And.. the "rawk rawk" sound kills me too ToT but only in the beggining ^^

I must say too that I totally luved to listen a guitar in a february song >.< It's kinda different, being a february song and... it gives a different feeling from much others, although this is not my favourite february's one.

Nana's Version of She bop wasn't that good i must say.I mean it sounded cool, but i mean her English was terrible, as much as i love the girl...Her English was really bad.

I love most of Tommy february6 songs and particularly cover's, this is the first Tommy f6 I dislike!! The continuously "rack rack rack"sound is annoying, although Tommy sings so well, the song itself is boring...

After to give a listen to the full tribute album I must say that our Tommy is far ahead the other singers in this album !
To tell the truth that doesn't surprise me that Tommy february6 does the better cover between the 10 !!

Aahh yeah last thing: apart from the "wack-wack" sound effect, this cover of "All Through The Night" is once and for all very good !!

I read everyone else's comments and I have to agree - what is with that "rock quack" (or whatever is going on ...) constantly? That's the only thing I could do without. It's not Tommy's voice so ... it gets in the way. It makes it sound like a remix sometimes to me. And tomoko_chan's right - it's not a complete February song even though I would've expected it to be. I liked how they tried experimenting with it.

I'm not familiar with Cyndi Lauper stuff but I do really, really enjoy the song. Thanks Level masteR for sharing the whole album! I really love Chitose Hajime (even if she's a complete 180 from Cyndi Lauper).

First off thanks to Level masteR for the song. I really didn't want to purchase the whole cd for one song.(though i still might.) As for the song..... Its fantastic but, different from all previous efforts. If her next february album were along the lines of this song, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

By the way is there any special photos (or anything else) of Tommy (maybe the guys too) inside this tribute album
