If it ever has news on Tommy, the I may have to acquire that channel.
Re: NHK to launch all-English international TV broadcasting service
The only show that seems to have an English talking show in NHK Is the J-pop music show where melody is the host...Hopefully i'll get to see Tommy there...

Re: NHK to launch all-English international TV broadcasting service
Just checked the listings on my digital box, and at 11.30am, 3.30pm & 7.30pm GMT their is a music programme called J-MELO looking at all the music news in Japan.
Re: NHK to launch all-English international TV broadcasting service
It seems you can watch it here: http://www.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/
Now J-Melo is being broadcasted, but it doesn't allow me to watch it >.<

Re: NHK to launch all-English international TV broadcasting service
J-MELO was terrible, the hosts are so wooden. It was a countdown of the top 10 requested artists on the J-MELO site, and consisted of 90% boybands!!! I never realised the state of Japanese chart music was so bad.
Anyway, you can request songs here -

How about this, we all request Tommy. Do it as many times as you want. Make sure to add a picture of yourself and I will tell you if any of us get on the show!!

You know, I kind of expected something like that to happen. Boyband-itis is a terrible disease.
Re: NHK to launch all-English international TV broadcasting service
Ok, done it Transmisson complete. I even sent a photo of myself.. super small, but still a photo. I actually requested 4 groups haha. But I think you know three of them

Cool, nice one Starryed. I may have to start Sky+ing J-MELO again just to see if you appear. I stopped watching it because the presenters made it all most impossible to watch.
My fave programmes from this channel are NIHON-GO QUICK LESSON & Sense of Japan. These have been very usefull on the run up to my holiday and they are very funny too. Plus Koyuki rocks

Oh, don't count your chicken's yet Sneaky, I think I made a mistake. I put my name as Starryeyed, but I selected groups not songs..
I mean, do they play songs from a while ago because, February 6 has been quiet, Heavenly 6 didn't release any singles from her new album, and the Brilliant Green are in well hibernation at the moment. Do they only play the latest songs? latest groups? Alittle confused.
NIHON-GO QUICK LESSON & Sense of Japan.
Agreed, it will be good for your holiday too. Don't forget we all want to see some pics here on the forum when you do come back Do have a nice time when you go to Japan.

NHK radio is also putting on a weekly English JPop show. They play only 5 to 6 songs a week, but its usually not boy bands.
You can download the show here:

BTW: Boy bands and girl bands are currently huge all over East Asia.

It is mainly new songs that they play, but sometimes they do feature artists and will look back at some older songs.
